Budgam, January 3,2026-The Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr Bilal Bhat (IAS), on Tuesday distributed SVAMITVA Property Cards to beneficiaries from Tehsil Khag and Tehsil Khansahib at the Conference Hall, Budgam, marking a significant step towards strengthening legal ownership and rural empowerment.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted the importance of the SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) Scheme in providing clear property titles, reducing land-related disputes, and enabling villagers to use property records for financial inclusion and economic development.
Officials informed that 118 SVAMITVA property cards have been generated in the district so far, out of which 88 cards were distributed during the event. The remaining cards will be handed over in subsequent phases.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that the initiative will help rural residents access bank loans, government schemes, and institutional credit, while also ensuring transparency and certainty in land ownership.
The programme was attended by district officers, revenue officials, and beneficiaries, who expressed satisfaction over receiving legally authenticated property records.
The SVAMITVA scheme is a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at empowering rural India through modern land mapping and digitisation.
