BARAMULLA, DECEMBER 24: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, chaired a crucial meeting at Gulmarg to assess the progress of ongoing developmental projects and review the facilities related to winter tourism in the Gulmarg sub-division. The focus of the meeting was on enhancing infrastructure and services to ensure a seamless experience for tourists visiting the world-renowned Gulmarg Ski Resort during the winter season.
The DC conducted a comprehensive review of the status of various development projects, particularly those aimed at improving road connectivity, snow clearance, healthcare facilities, electricity supply, and accommodation for tourists. Minga Sherpa emphasised the urgency of completing these projects to ensure that all essential services are operational ahead of the winter tourism season.
During the meeting, the DC highlighted the importance of efficient snow clearance mechanisms to maintain uninterrupted road connectivity to the ski resort. He directed the AEE R&B and Mechanical to ensure that snow clearance operations are carried out promptly and effectively during periods of heavy snowfall.
In addition to infrastructure, the DC underscored the need for ensuring round-the-clock availability of critical services such as electricity and water supply, which are vital for the comfort and safety of tourists.
Minga Sherpa also reiterated that the success of Gulmarg as a premier winter tourism destination depends on the availability of modern infrastructure, safe travel conditions, and efficient services. He stressed that all these elements must be in place during the winter season to provide tourists with a memorable and hassle-free experience.
