Baramulla, June 12, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, presided over a Block Diwas programme at Lalpora, Tangmarg, emphasising youth empowerment and the effective implementation of government schemes. The event, aimed at addressing public grievances and promoting developmental initiatives, saw Sherpa urging the youth to actively participate in Mission Yuva and avail benefits under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
During the programme, DC Sherpa interacted with local residents, listening to their concerns related to infrastructure, public services, and livelihood opportunities. He issued on-the-spot directions to concerned departments to resolve grievances promptly, ensuring seamless service delivery. Sherpa highlighted the importance of Mission Yuva, a youth-centric initiative designed to foster skill development and entrepreneurship, encouraging young individuals to harness its opportunities for self-reliance.
Sherpa also promoted the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a flagship scheme providing subsidies for rooftop solar installations to ensure free electricity and sustainable energy solutions. He emphasized its potential to reduce electricity bills and contribute to environmental conservation, aligning with India’s renewable energy goals. Additionally, he advocated for the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, which supports artisans and craftsmen through skill training, credit facilitation, and market linkages, urging eligible beneficiaries to register and benefit.
“Block Diwas is a platform to bridge the gap between administration and people. Our focus is on empowering youth through schemes like Mission Yuva and ensuring inclusive development via PM Surya Ghar and Vishwakarma initiatives,” Sherpa stated. He directed officials to conduct awareness camps to maximize outreach and ensure saturation of these schemes in Tangmarg and across Baramulla district.
The event witnessed participation from local officials, community leaders, and residents, reflecting the administration’s commitment to grassroots governance. Sherpa’s proactive approach during the Block Diwas underscores Baramulla’s ongoing efforts to streamline public service delivery and promote sustainable development.
