Baramulla, November 3,2025: Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa today chaired a high-level meeting at the DC Office Baramulla to review the district’s overall winter preparedness plan. The meeting focused on ensuring timely snow clearance, uninterrupted essential services, and adequate stocking of essential medicines and supplies to guarantee smooth public services during the harsh winter months.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments, including PWD (R&B), Mechanical Engineering, PDD, PHE, Health, and Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), to finalise contingency plans in advance to minimise disruption. He emphasised the need for round-the-clock coordination between departments to address snow-related challenges promptly and ensure that vital infrastructure such as roads, power lines, and water supply systems remain functional.
Minga Sherpa instructed the Mechanical Division to deploy men and machinery at strategic locations well before snowfall begins. He also reviewed the status of power and water supply restoration mechanisms, particularly in remote and hilly areas. The Health Department was directed to ensure adequate stock of essential medicines, oxygen cylinders, and emergency kits at all hospitals and health centres.
The DC highlighted the importance of maintaining communication networks, public transportation, and emergency response systems to prevent inconvenience to citizens. He further urged officials to maintain constant liaison with field staff and to keep control rooms functional 24×7 for quick grievance redressal during the winter period.
Assuring the public of full preparedness, Minga Sherpa said, “Our aim is to ensure that all essential services remain uninterrupted and that people do not face hardships due to snowfall or extreme weather conditions. Every department must stay alert and proactive.”
The meeting was attended by officers from all major line departments, including police, disaster management, health, power, and transport sectors.
