In a commendable initiative to directly engage with the community and address their grievances, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, presided over a Block Diwas programme organised by the District Administration Baramulla at Kunzer Tangmarg on Wednesday. The Block Diwas saw active participation from the District Development Council (DDC) member of Kunzer, officers from relevant line departments, public representatives, delegations, and a substantial number of residents from both villages and municipal areas within the Pattan Block. The primary objective of the event was to provide a platform for local residents and public representatives to present their grievances and demands directly to the DC and relevant officers. During the programme, participants raised various issues including the macadamization of roads, the upgradation of schools, improvements in portable drinking water facilities, and other significant concerns affecting the local community. The DC attentively listened to these concerns and took proactive steps to address them. Many issues were resolved on the spot, and the DC issued immediate directives to concerned officers to prioritise and resolve the remaining grievances in a timely manner. Highlighting the essence of the Block Diwas, Minga Sherpa emphasized the importance of these grievance redressal camps. He explained that such initiatives allow for direct interaction with the public, providing valuable insights into local issues and facilitating a more effective and timely resolution process through on-site assessments. In addition to addressing grievances, the DC distributed keys of highly subsidized tractors, certificates, and sanction letters to various eligible beneficiaries, thanks to the support of the agriculture department. This gesture aimed to support local farmers and promote agricultural development. The Block Diwas also featured several stalls set up by various departments, including Education, Agriculture, Health, and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS). These stalls showcased a range of government schemes, services, and facilities designed to benefit the public, further highlighting the administration’s commitment to improving local services and infrastructure. Earlier in the day, Minga Sherpa, accompanied by Sub Divisional Magistrate Gulmarg, inaugurated the Under-17 T20 Cricket Tournament in Kunzer. In a symbolic gesture to mark the beginning of the tournament, the DC kicked off the event by hitting the first ball himself, reflecting his support for youth engagement and sports development in the region. The Block Diwas at Kunzer Tangmarg stands as a testament to the administration’s dedication to responsive governance and community engagement, fostering a spirit of collaborative progress and development.
