BANDIPORA, AUGUST 09, 2025 – Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, along with SSP Bandipora, Harmeet Singh Mehta, flagged off the annual Chota Amarnath Yatra from Sharda Temple, Kaloosa, today, in an atmosphere filled with devotion and communal harmony. The revered spiritual journey to the Chota Amarnath Holy Cave in Arin-Dardpora holds profound significance for devotees of Lord Shiva, drawing pilgrims from across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of India to seek blessings at the sacred site.A day prior to the flag-off, DC Chib met with members of the Kashmiri Pandit community, extending her best wishes for a safe and spiritually enriching journey.
The district administration, in collaboration with the police and other departments, ensured meticulous arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. These included track development up to the Maha Daneshwar Temple, provision of washrooms, langer services, medical teams, robust security measures, and safe drinking water facilities along the route.The 15-kilometer Yatra begins at Arin-Dardpora, passes through Shampthan, and culminates at the Chota Amarnath Cave. Adequate security personnel, health camps, and volunteers were deployed along the route to ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience.
Among others present at the flag-off ceremony were the Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tehsildar Bandipora, other district administration officers, volunteers, and senior citizens of the town.
