Srinagar, July 17, 2025 — Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, visited two of Srinagar’s most revered heritage sites — Khankah Naqshband Sahib (RA) in Nowhatta and Ali Masjid in Eidgah — to assess preparations for the upcoming restoration works scheduled to begin this month.
Khankah Naqshband Sahib, a historic shrine built in 1613, holds immense religious and cultural significance for the people of Kashmir. The restoration project, set to commence on July 17, 2025, has a sanctioned cost of ₹3.37 crore. The conservation efforts will focus on structural repairs, restoration of traditional wooden elements, Khatamband ceiling work, and upgradation of the compound walls, ensuring that the original architectural heritage is preserved.
Ali Masjid, another iconic spiritual and historical landmark in the Eidgah area of Srinagar, will also undergo a major restoration under a sanctioned budget of ₹3.28 crore. The project will be executed with strict adherence to heritage architecture norms, focusing on conserving the mosque’s original design and craftsmanship.
Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo emphasized the importance of preserving Srinagar’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage through these conservation projects. He noted that both Khankah Naqshband Sahib and Ali Masjid are vital components of the city’s historical identity and that their restoration will enhance cultural tourism and community pride.
