Kashmir, December 9,2025: The Chief Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir today conducted a detailed review of the implementation status of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA) in the Union Territory. The meeting, attended by senior officials of the J&K Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), focused on ensuring transparency, accountability, and consumer protection in the real estate sector.
During the review, the Chief Secretary emphasised the importance of timely registration of real estate projects, proper grievance redressal mechanisms, and compliance with statutory obligations by developers. Officials presented the current status of registered projects, pending approvals, and enforcement measures, highlighting key areas that require further attention.
The Chief Secretary directed officials to streamline processes, strengthen monitoring, and enhance public awareness about RERA provisions, ensuring that homebuyers and investors in J&K are protected under the law. The review also underscored the need to promote investment in the real estate sector while safeguarding consumer interests.
The meeting concluded with a roadmap to accelerate RERA implementation, address pending issues, and ensure efficient governance of the real estate sector in Jammu & Kashmir.
