Kashmir, May 8, 2025- On February 10, 2025-Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired the 14th High-Level Committee meeting of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board to review preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2025. The meeting, attended by senior officials from departments including Police, PWD, PDD, Jal Shakti, RDD, H&UDD, and BRO, focused on ensuring a smooth, safe, and well-coordinated pilgrimage.
Chief Secretary Dulloo directed the Power Development Department (PDD) to expedite the undergrounding of high- and low-tension power lines and instructed the Jal Shakti Department to complete the installation of anti-freezing pipelines. Emphasis was laid on implementing a robust traffic management plan to prevent congestion along the yatra route.
Healthcare arrangements were a major focus, with the Health Department instructed to deploy sufficient medical personnel at base hospitals and on the route. Recruitment of additional staff was also ordered to meet the expected increase in medical demand during the yatra period.
The Rural Development Department (RDD) and the Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) were tasked with installing adequate toilet and bathing facilities, ensuring a steady water supply, and maintaining cleanliness through effective waste management strategies.
In terms of safety and disaster preparedness, the Chief Secretary called for the identification and demarcation of flood-prone areas along the route. The Disaster Management Department was directed to work with district administrations to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures to handle emergencies.
To improve connectivity, telecom operators were asked to submit action plans for boosting mobile coverage, particularly at the Baltal Base Camp and the Domail track area. This is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted communication for both pilgrims and authorities.
The meeting also stressed the need for all pilgrims to register with RFID tags and obtain valid health certificates. The Indian Meteorological Department was tasked with providing daily weather forecasts to registered pilgrims to enhance their safety.
Chief Secretary Dulloo reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring that the Amarnath Yatra 2025 is conducted in a safe, organized, and spiritually fulfilling manner through close coordination among all concerned departments.
