Kashmir, October 26,2025- Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Atal Dulloo chaired a high-level meeting today to meticulously review the arrangements for the highly anticipated 2nd Edition of the Kashmir Marathon, scheduled for November 2, 2025, in the heart of Srinagar. Organized by the Tourism Department, this flagship event is poised to not only ignite a passion for fitness and sportsmanship among the youth but also spotlight the Valley’s unparalleled scenic beauty and cultural heritage, drawing runners and tourists from across the globe.The marathon promises an exhilarating journey through Kashmir’s iconic landscapes, with races weaving past breathtaking locales that showcase the region’s natural splendor—from serene lakesides to majestic mountain vistas. Emphasizing the event’s dual role in promoting tourism and sports, Dulloo directed all relevant departments to ensure seamless coordination and foolproof logistics. Key focus areas include robust arrangements for transportation, accommodation, medical facilities, security, sanitation, and overall event management to guarantee a safe and memorable experience for participants and spectators alike.
The Traffic Department was specifically tasked with securing the marathon routes to facilitate smooth operations on race day.”The Kashmir Marathon will not only promote fitness and sportsmanship among youth but also serve as a major tourism promotion event, attracting visitors from across the world to experience the Valley’s natural beauty and cultural richness,” Dulloo remarked during the meeting, underscoring the initiative’s potential to position Kashmir as a premier destination for adventure and wellness tourism.
Attendees included the Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism; Secretary, Health; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir; DIG, Traffic; MD, JKTDC; Director, Tourism, Kashmir; and SSP, among other senior officials.Adding to the allure, the Kashmir Marathon 2025 boasts an impressive prize pool designed to reward excellence across categories. For the Full Marathon (42.195 km), overall winners will claim Rs 25,00,000 (1st), Rs 20,00,000 (2nd), Rs 18,00,000 (3rd), Rs 15,00,000 (4th), and Rs 12,00,000 (5th). Age-group victors (18-35, 36-50, and 50+ years) stand to earn Rs 1,00,000, Rs 75,000, and Rs 50,000 for the top three positions, respectively. The Half Marathon (21.0975 km) offers Rs 15,00,000 (1st), Rs 12,00,000 (2nd), Rs 9,00,000 (3rd), Rs 6,00,000 (4th), and Rs 3,00,000 (5th) for overall finishers, with age-group prizes of Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000, and Rs 25,000.Building on the success of its inaugural edition, this year’s marathon is expected to foster greater community participation and vibrant celebrations, cementing its status as a symbol of Kashmir’s resilient spirit and hospitality.
