Srinagar, December 5,2025:-The ongoing cold wave in Kashmir eased slightly as night temperatures recorded a marginal rise across the Valley, offering temporary relief to residents grappling with days of intense chill.
According to the latest weather update from the Meteorological Department, several areas in the Valley experienced a modest improvement in minimum temperatures, signalling a brief break from the harsh conditions that have dominated the region this week.
Despite the slight rise, cold wave conditions continue in Kashmir, particularly in higher altitudes where frost formation and freezing winds remain common. Morning fog also persisted in parts of central and south Kashmir, affecting visibility and slowing movement on major routes.
Weather officials said that the improvement is expected to be short-lived, with another dip in temperatures likely as fresh colder winds move into the region. However, no major snowfall has been predicted in the immediate forecast.
Residents in Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama, Anantnag, and other districts welcomed the small rise in temperatures but remain prepared for a return to severe cold in the coming days. Local markets saw increased activity as people ventured out during slightly milder mornings.
The MeT Department continues to advise caution during the early hours, especially for commuters, due to slippery roads and low visibility caused by fog and frost.
