Kashmir, October 25,2025-In a major boost to floral tourism and horticulture development in the Union Territory, the Chief Minister inaugurated Bagh-i-Gul-e-Dawood, Jammu and Kashmir’s first exclusive Chrysanthemum Garden, at the Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden in Srinagar.
Developed by the Department of Floriculture over a sprawling 5-hectare area, the garden showcases more than one lakh chrysanthemum plants of over 50 unique varieties, adding a stunning splash of colour to Kashmir’s scenic autumn landscape.
Officials said the newly inaugurated garden will significantly extend the garden tourism season in the Valley, traditionally limited to the spring and summer months. By introducing autumn-blooming chrysanthemum varieties, the initiative aims to attract both domestic and international tourists during the later months of the year.
The Chief Minister, while addressing the gathering, lauded the efforts of the floriculture department for developing a “floral marvel” that celebrates Kashmir’s natural beauty and supports eco-friendly tourism. The initiative also reflects the government’s broader commitment to sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, and employment generation through horticulture and floriculture.
Situated against the picturesque backdrop of the Zabarwan Hills, Bagh-i-Gul-e-Dawood promises to become a new hub for nature lovers, photographers, and visitors seeking to experience the Valley’s blooming diversity beyond the traditional tulip season.
