Srinagar, December 5: On the occasion of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s 119th birth anniversary, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah paid heartfelt tributes to the founder of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) and former Chief Minister of the state, at Naseembagh, Hazratbal. Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, fondly known as Sher-e-Kashmir, is remembered for his visionary leadership and lifelong contributions to the political and social landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
Omar Abdullah, accompanied by NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and other senior party leaders, laid floral tributes at Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s mausoleum in a solemn ceremony. They also offered Fateha (special prayers) at his grave to honour his legacy and reaffirm their commitment to the ideals he championed throughout his life.
In his address, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reflected on his grandfather’s profound impact, stating, “Sher-e-Kashmir’s vision continues to inspire us in our relentless pursuit of progress and justice for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Today, we remember his sacrifices and renew our commitment to the values of justice, equality, and communal harmony that he embodied.”
Dr. Farooq Abdullah, speaking with deep reverence, described his father as “a guiding light whose principles will always lead us forward.”
The commemoration was attended by senior party leaders, workers, and supporters, who gathered to pay homage to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, a towering figure whose contributions have shaped the history of Jammu and Kashmir.
