Srinagar, August 29, 2025 – Chief Minister Omar Abdullah convened a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar to finalize preparations for Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth, set to draw large gatherings across Jammu and Kashmir. The festival, a cornerstone of spiritual unity, prompted the CM to focus on safety, security, and logistical support amid recent regional challenges like floods.Attended by the Director General of Police, Divisional Commissioners, and department heads, the meeting outlined coordinated efforts with religious bodies. “Eid-e-Milad is a time for unity and reverence; we must ensure safe celebrations,” Abdullah said, stressing cultural sensitivity.Security measures include deploying police and paramilitary forces along procession routes in Srinagar, Jammu, and Anantnag, with intelligence units monitoring threats and misinformation.
Logistical plans involve clear route maps, public address systems, medical camps, and water stations, with contingencies for indoor venues due to recent rains. The Transport Department will enhance bus services and manage parking.Civic arrangements cover cleanliness around mosques, uninterrupted power, and sanitation facilities. The Health Department will station emergency teams, while essentials will be distributed to underprivileged families via the Waqf Board and Auqaf bodies, promoting inclusivity.Preparations are set to conclude by September 5, 2025, ensuring a harmonious festival.
