Srinagar, July 15, 2025 – Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah conducted a public outreach program at the Raabita Office in Srinagar, meeting multiple delegations to discuss critical issues related to development, institutional functioning, and public welfare. The initiative, part of the Chief Minister’s ongoing commitment to accessible governance, saw wide-ranging discussions aimed at addressing grassroots concerns and fostering inclusive growth in the region.
Abdullah met representatives from various sectors, including Sandeep Sharma, Zonal Head of ICICI Bank, who briefed the CM on the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, such as providing a rescue vehicle for Dachigam National Park and efforts to boost employment and community welfare. Other delegations raised issues concerning trade, industry, and local infrastructure, reflecting the diverse challenges faced by Jammu and Kashmir’s citizens. “The Raabita Office is a platform to bring governance closer to the people, ensuring their grievances are heard and addressed promptly,” Abdullah said, reiterating his government’s focus on citizen-centric administration
The discussions covered topics like healthcare, education, and rural development, with specific demands for improved facilities and timely project execution. The Chief Minister assured swift action, issuing on-the-spot instructions to officials for priority-based redressal of grievances. The Raabita Office, established in Srinagar and recently inaugurated in Jammu on June 20, 2025, facilitates both online and offline grievance registration, leveraging data-driven monitoring to ensure efficient resolution. Abdullah highlighted the success of the Public Service Guarantee Act in streamlining services and expressed confidence that Raabita would further strengthen public trust
This outreach comes amid Abdullah’s broader efforts to promote development, as seen in his recent initiatives like inaugurating the Shrawan Mahotsav at Shiv Khori, advocating adventure tourism at a Kolkata event, and supporting healthcare advancements at SKIMS Medical College’s Annual Day. The Raabita program aligns with his vision of addressing public welfare issues while navigating challenges like the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, where security measures, including BSF bomb disposal operations, remain robust
The Chief Minister’s proactive engagement has drawn praise, though tensions with the Lieutenant Governor’s administration persist, as evidenced by recent controversies over restrictions during Martyrs’ Day commemorations. Despite these challenges, Abdullah’s focus on public outreach underscores his commitment to inclusive governance and regional progress.
