Srinagar, November 1,2025: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah laid the foundation stone for the Boulevard Road Four-Laning Project in Srinagar, marking a major step toward improving the city’s road infrastructure and easing traffic flow along the scenic Dal Lake.
The ambitious project aims to expand the existing Boulevard Road into a four-lane corridor, enhancing connectivity between Dalgate and Nishat, two key tourist and residential zones of Srinagar.
Speaking at the ceremony, Omar Abdullah said the government is committed to creating world-class urban infrastructure that matches the city’s tourism potential and ensures a better experience for locals and visitors alike. “The four-laning of Boulevard Road will not only decongest traffic but also add to the aesthetic and functional appeal of Srinagar’s lakefront,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the project reflects the administration’s focus on sustainable urban mobility and tourism-driven growth. “Improved road infrastructure around Dal Lake will boost the local economy, create jobs, and enhance the overall tourist experience,” he added.
The project, to be executed by the Public Works (R&B) Department, includes modern lighting, pedestrian pathways, drainage upgrades, and landscaping, ensuring that the road development complements the city’s heritage and environment.
Local residents and traders have welcomed the move, describing it as a transformative step for Srinagar’s infrastructure development.
