Former Chief Justice of J\&K High Court Justice Ali Mohammad Magray delivered the welcome address.

In his address, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah underlined the two fundamental parameters that define the success of any educational institution — the strength of its research and the accomplishments of its alumni. “By both standards, the University of Kashmir is not behind any university in the country,” he affirmed.
He highlighted that alumni of Kashmir University have made significant contributions in various sectors including law, governance, politics, medicine, business, social service, and academia, earning respect both nationally and globally.
Calling upon the alumni to maintain strong ties with their alma mater, he said, “Kashmir University has given you a lot. If you could, even occasionally, return the favour through your efforts and experience, it would greatly benefit the students currently studying here and those who will join in the future.”
He urged them to serve as mentors and role models for the next generation. “Just as you have brought pride to Jammu and Kashmir and to India, may the future students of this university continue this legacy,” he added.
CM Omar Abdullah also extended his congratulations to the alumni who were honoured during the event. “I heartily congratulate all those who have been felicitated with citations and recognition today,” he said, concluding with words of motivation and hope.
