Nagrota, August 22, 2025 – The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir today attended the 56th School Raising Day celebrations of Sainik School Nagrota, a prestigious institution under the Ministry of Defence, and inaugurated the newly constructed ‘TRIVENI’ Girls’ Hostel. The event marked a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to fostering discipline, leadership, and excellence among its students, with a special emphasis on empowering young women.The ‘TRIVENI’ Girls’ Hostel, a state-of-the-art facility, is designed to accommodate female cadets, aligning with the Sainik Schools Society’s initiative to promote gender inclusivity in military education. This development follows the successful integration of girls into Sainik Schools, a policy approved by the Ministry of Defence in 2019, with phased admissions starting from the 2021-22 academic session.
The hostel’s inauguration underscores the institution’s role in preparing students for careers in the Armed Forces and other fields, in line with the National Education Policy 2020.In his address, the Chief Minister lauded Sainik School Nagrota for its legacy of nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped with the skills to lead and serve the nation. “Sainik School Nagrota has been a beacon of discipline and leadership, shaping the youth of Jammu and Kashmir into responsible citizens and future leaders,” he said. He further highlighted the importance of providing equal opportunities for girls to excel in military and civilian careers, commending the school for its progressive approach.
Sainik School Nagrota, established on August 22, 1970, by the Government of India, is one of the 33 Sainik Schools across the country. Located on a sprawling 108-acre campus along the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, the school offers a CBSE Plus curriculum, combining academic rigor with military training. Its infrastructure includes modern facilities such as playgrounds, obstacle courses, and a mini-stadium, fostering holistic development through sports, academics, and extracurricular activities. The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and is a member of the Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC).
The 56th Raising Day celebrations showcased the school’s achievements, with cadets demonstrating their skills through a ceremonial parade and cultural programs. The event also highlighted the school’s strong alumni network, Nexas, which includes officers in the Armed Forces, bureaucrats, doctors, and business leaders.The inauguration of the ‘TRIVENI’ Girls’ Hostel is a step toward empowering female cadets to pursue their aspirations, including entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Indian Naval Academy (INA). The Chief Minister’s presence, along with senior officials, underscored the state government’s support for initiatives that promote education, gender equality, and youth development in Jammu and Kashmir.
