Kashmir, December 4,2025: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah felicitated Ms. Anekha Devi of Bani, Kathua, for her stellar performance in the inaugural Women’s T20 Blind World Cup, where India emerged victorious.
CM Omar Abdullah lauded Anekha Devi’s grit, determination, and remarkable sporting spirit, stating that her achievement is a matter of immense pride for Jammu & Kashmir as well as the nation. He emphasised that her success showcases the growing strength of women athletes and highlights the exceptional capabilities of Divyang sportspersons representing India on international platforms.
The Chief Minister said Anekha’s journey is an inspiration for countless young sportspersons across the Union Territory. He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure, coaching support, and opportunities for athletes with disabilities, ensuring they receive the recognition and facilities they deserve.
Expressing her gratitude, Anekha Devi thanked the administration, her coaches, family, and teammates for their continuous support throughout her sporting journey.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by senior officials, sports authorities, and representatives from disability sports organisations, reaffirming the administration’s focus on inclusive sports promotion and youth empowerment in Jammu & Kashmir.
