Ganderbal, May 21, 2025 – Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today distributed scooties to specially-abled individuals in Ganderbal, emphasizing his government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive society where everyone can thrive. The initiative, aimed at enhancing mobility and independence for persons with disabilities, was attended by Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Masood, at a ceremony held in the district.
Speaking at the event, CM Abdullah highlighted the importance of empowering specially-abled individuals through accessible resources, stating, “Our government is dedicated to creating opportunities that enable every citizen to live with dignity and independence.” The distribution of specially designed scooties is part of a broader effort to improve accessibility and support the socio-economic integration of persons with disabilities across Jammu and Kashmir.
The event, organised under the aegis of the Social Welfare Department, saw beneficiaries express gratitude for the support, which they said would significantly enhance their daily lives and access to opportunities.
This program aligns with the J&K government’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity, following similar welfare initiatives across the region. The distribution in Ganderbal is expected to be replicated in other districts, reinforcing the administration’s focus on empowering marginalised communities.
