Srinagar, December 26:Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reaffirmed his government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by various sectors of society during a public outreach programme held at the Raabita Public Outreach Office in Srinagar. The programme witnessed a strong turnout, with delegations and individuals from across Kashmir presenting their concerns and demands.
The Chief Minister interacted with a diverse range of stakeholders, including representatives from education, healthcare, artisan communities, and the labour sector. Each group highlighted sector-specific issues requiring immediate attention.
The J&K College Teachers Association raised the need to enhance the retirement age of college teachers in Jammu and Kashmir, while the Kashmiri Shawl Makers Welfare Foundation sought government intervention to protect the traditional shawl-making trade and safeguard artisans’ livelihoods.
A five-member delegation representing Hot Mix Plant owners shared the challenges facing their industry and requested timely support. The J&K Casual Labourers United Front, led by its State President, advocated for the welfare of casual labourers, while a delegation of physiotherapists outlined pressing issues within their sector.
Similarly, the Health Workers Welfare Association, represented by its president, raised concerns about the challenges facing healthcare professionals, and the Employees Joint Action Committee emphasised the need for comprehensive measures to ensure employees’ welfare.
A delegation of Saubhagya Contractors from Ganderbal and South Kashmir discussed operational hurdles in implementing the Saubhagya scheme and sought government support for the timely execution of projects.
Traders from various bazar committees in City Centre Lal Chowk and adjoining markets, including Hari Singh High Street, Poloview, Regal Chowk, Maisuma, and Court Road, also met with the Chief Minister. They submitted a memorandum requesting measures to revive businesses, increase customer footfall, and develop these commercial hubs.
The Chief Minister assured all delegations and individuals that their concerns would be addressed with a patient and responsive approach. He emphasised that genuine grievances would be resolved on a priority basis, reiterating the government’s dedication to fostering socio-economic development across the region.
This public outreach programme once again highlighted the government’s commitment to engaging directly with the people to address their issues and ensure inclusive progress for all sectors of society.
