Born on September 9, 1974, in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, Captain Vikram Batra joined the Indian Army as a Lieutenant in the 13th Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. The Battle of Point 4875
Captain Batra’s most defining moment came during the assault on Point 4875, a strategically vital peak occupied by Pakistani intruders. Leading from the front, he fearlessly engaged the enemy in close combat, inspiring his men with his battle cry, “Yeh Dil Mange More!” Despite sustaining fatal injuries on July 7, 1999, he ensured the mission’s success, securing the peak and hoisting the Tricolor for India.
Posthumous Param Vir Chakra
