Kashmir, long known for its breathtaking beauty, is now emerging as a hub for fitness and athleticism. Programs like these are not just about running; they are about running towards a brighter future. It is vital that such initiatives continue, with an increased focus on engaging the youth, especially young women, in fitness and sports. These events are more than just competitions—they are lifelines, offering an alternative to those who might otherwise be led astray by drugs or other negative influences. For many, this is their chance to break free and realise that their future lies in action, not in the vices holding them back. Programs like these should continue in Kashmir, with a strong focus on maximising youth participation. It’s crucial that young people, especially females, get more involved in fitness and similar initiatives. For the youth who have unfortunately fallen into drug use or other negative activities, it is essential to guide them back onto the right track. They may not yet understand their potential, but now is the time for action. These programs offer a much-needed direction, showing them that there’s no future in those destructive paths. As someone from Jammu, I am filled with pride and excitement to witness such a monumental event taking place for the first time in our state, and that too in Kashmir. It’s an incredible opportunity for Kashmiris to showcase their talent, and it lays a strong foundation for their future in athletics, with the hope of one day reaching the Olympics. For those participating, especially those proudly donning their athletic gear, I want to say that this is more than just a race; it’s a step towards a brighter future. Young people engaged in sports are far less likely to fall into the trap of drugs. The positive atmosphere here speaks volumes—the initial concerns about the cold weather quickly disappeared as soon as we saw the enthusiasm of the runners. Now, we are moving forward on the iconic Boulevard Road, a route that promises to be nothing short of spectacular. Kashmir, with its vibrant energy and incredible beauty, has truly become an international destination. It feels like the entire nation, and even the world, is running together in this race, adding an extra layer of inspiration. There is no place more beautiful to run than Kashmir, and I’ve often come here just for that experience. Running on the Boulevard is a unique joy, and today’s event fulfils the long-held dream of promoting Kashmir as the stunning global destination it deserves to be. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the J&K government, the administration, and most notably, the J&K Tourism Department, this dream became a reality. Events like this are paving the way for a future where Kashmir’s beauty and potential are recognised worldwide.
