Budgam, September 09,2025: The District Sheep Husbandry Organisation Budgam has established a Commercial Sheep Unit comprising 50 ewes under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) at CD Block Chari Sharief.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening sustainable agriculture in Budgam by promoting modern livestock farming practices and encouraging rural entrepreneurship in Jammu & Kashmir. Officials stated that the newly established sheep farming unit will not only improve mutton production in Kashmir but also create employment opportunities and enhance farmers’ income in J&K.
By setting up commercial sheep husbandry units, the department is working to expand the agriculture and allied sectors, contributing to sustainable livestock development and long-term economic growth for rural communities in Jammu & Kashmir.
