Jammu & Kashmir — The Border Security Force (BSF) is not only dedicated to safeguarding the nation and its people, but its sense of service extends to all living beings. The BSF Veterinary Team is actively engaged in providing medical care to animals, especially in remote and border areas, offering much-needed relief to local communities and strengthening public trust.
The veterinary teams are especially active in regions like Rajouri, Poonch, Uri, and Kathua, where they not only treat BSF’s service animals—such as horses and dogs—but also offer free medical assistance to livestock owned by local villagers.
In recent veterinary camps organised by the BSF Veterinary Wing, hundreds of animals were examined, and many were saved from serious diseases. These camps provided medication, vaccinations, nutritional advice, and awareness about animal welfare to farmers and livestock owners.
According to BSF officials, this initiative not only ensures the well-being of both service and local animals in border areas but also fosters stronger bonds between the security forces and local communities under the Civic Action Programme.
