BSF Kashmir organises free medical camp in Ashtanpura Srinagar for border communities

Srinagar, March 30, 2025 – Demonstrating its dedication to the well-being of local communities, the Border Security Force Kashmir organised a Free Medical Camp under its Civic Action Program in Ashtanpura, Srinagar, on March 29, 2025. The initiative provided essential healthcare services to over 86 villagers, including children, addressing medical needs in this underserved area of the Kashmir Valley.

The medical camp, spearheaded by BSF Kashmir, offered comprehensive check-ups conducted by a team of medical professionals. Alongside free consultations, the BSF distributed free medicines and medical equipment to attendees, ensuring that those with limited access to healthcare received critical support. The event underscores the BSF’s broader mission to foster goodwill and support border communities beyond its primary role of securing the nation’s frontiers.

A BSF official emphasised the force’s commitment, stating, “Our duty extends beyond safeguarding borders. We aim to uplift the lives of people in these regions through initiatives like this medical camp, ensuring they feel supported and cared for.” The camp saw participation from local residents, who expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, particularly for children and the elderly who often face challenges accessing medical facilities.

The Civic Action Program, under which this camp was organised, is a key outreach effort by the BSF to strengthen ties with communities in Jammu and Kashmir. Similar programs have included educational drives, sports events, and infrastructure support, reflecting a holistic approach to community development. The Ashtanpura camp is part of a series of such initiatives aimed at improving healthcare access in remote areas.

This effort comes amidst the BSF’s ongoing operations to maintain peace and security in the region, highlighting its dual role as both protectora protector and a community partner. The medical camp in Ashtanpura is a small but significant step in building trust and improving living conditions for villagers, one health check-up at a time.
