Baltal, July 4,2026- The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), through its 122 Road Construction Company (RCC), has played a pivotal role in improving and developing the trekking route from the Baltal Base Camp to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine, significantly enhancing the pilgrimage experience for thousands of devotees undertaking the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
Pilgrims travelling via the Baltal route have praised the BRO for strengthening and maintaining the challenging mountain track, making the journey safer, smoother, and more accessible despite the difficult Himalayan terrain. The Baltal route, spanning approximately 14 kilometres, is the shorter but steeper path to the sacred cave and is widely used by devotees seeking a one-day trek.
The improved route has facilitated the smooth movement of pilgrims while ensuring better safety standards during the annual yatra. Devotees expressed appreciation for the BRO’s dedicated efforts in constructing and maintaining the high-altitude track under demanding weather and geographical conditions.
Many yatris acknowledged that the transformation of the route has reduced travel difficulties compared to previous years. They lauded the BRO engineers and workers for their commitment to providing reliable infrastructure in one of the country’s most challenging terrains.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 has witnessed extensive preparations by multiple agencies, including security forces, civil administration, health services, and the BRO, ensuring a safe and comfortable pilgrimage for devotees from across India. The coordinated efforts have strengthened infrastructure, emergency response systems, and essential facilities along both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
