BRO begins Bhimber Gali tunnel construction to enhance Rajouri-Poonch highway connectivity

On March 3, 2025, the Border Roads Organisation marked a significant milestone with the inaugural blast for the 1.1 km Bhimber Gali Tunnel along the Rajouri-Poonch stretch of National Highway 144A. Conducted under BRO’s Project Sampark, this tunnel is part of a broader initiative to enhance infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. Once completed, it will shorten the highway by 10.8 km, ensuring all-weather connectivity between Rajouri and Poonch. This development promises to improve access for civilians and strengthen logistical support for the Indian Army in this strategically vital region.
