Rajouri, December 1, 2025 – The Indian Army’s Nowshera Brigade inaugurated the Brig Usman Premier League 2025–26 , celebrating sportsmanship, community engagement, and remembrance of national heroes. The tournament was formally opened by Commander 80 Brigade, Brigadier Koushal Kumar, at the Army Stadium in Nowshera, Rajouri.
This year, 16 teams from across Rajouri district are participating in the prestigious cricket tournament, which honours the memory of Brigadier Mohammad Usman, a revered officer who laid down his life in service to the nation. The event aims to foster team spirit, youth participation, and community bonding, while promoting healthy competition in the region.
Speaking at the inauguration, Brigadier Koushal Kumar emphasised the role of sports in building character, discipline, and unity. “The Brig Usman Premier League is not just about cricket; it is a tribute to valor, sacrifice, and the spirit of service that Brigadier Mohammad Usman embodied,” he said.
Organized annually by the Indian Army’s Nowshera Brigade, the tournament has become a platform for local talent to showcase their skills and engage with the armed forces, strengthening civil-military relations in Rajouri.
The tournament will be played over several weeks, with matches held at the Army Stadium and other approved grounds, attracting spectators from across the district and contributing to the promotion of sports culture in Jammu & Kashmir.
