KULGAM, MAY 08: The World Red Cross Day was today celebrated in Kulgam, marking a day of solidarity and commitment to humanitarian values.
The main function held at the mini-secretariat Kulgam was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan.
The event saw the participation of several dignitaries including ADDC Bashir Ahmad Wani, ADC Viqar Ahmed Giri, ACR Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, CEO Yousuf Jan, CMO Gulzar Ahmad and other officers, besides students from various educational institutions participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said that the aim to celebrate this day is to ignite a sense of commitment for alleviating human suffering and promoting the well-being of communities besides to strive for the betterment and welfare of society.
In his speech, the ADC shed light on the historical significance of the Red Cross movement. He also shared that more than 500 families were provided assistance in the district under the Red Cross by the Red Cross Committee Kulgam.
Adding a vibrant touch to the celebrations, students from various educational institutions actively participated in a seminar held at the conference hall of the mini-secretariat.
They eloquently emphasized the importance of the day, showcasing a deep understanding of humanitarian values and the significance of collective action in building a better world.
Later these students were felicitated.
Meanwhile a blood Donation camp was also organised at mini-secretariat Kulgam by District Red Cross Committee Kulgam in collaboration with Health department Kulgam, and volunteers donated 16 pints during the camp.
