Srinagar, May 23, 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a vibrant Tiranga Shikara Rally on the iconic Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, to commemorate the success of Operation Sindoor. The rally, which took place on Thursday, started from Mamta Ghat No. 1 and concluded at Nehru Park, with party workers and supporters sailing in decorated shikaras, waving national flags, and chanting patriotic slogans. The event was a tribute to the Indian armed forces for their successful strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir on May 7, 2025, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
Led by senior BJP leader and J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, the rally showcased a strong message of national pride and unity. Dr. Andrabi hailed Operation Sindoor as a decisive blow to terrorism, stating, “Our armed forces destroyed terrorist camps and showed Pakistan that attacking India is not easy.” The rally drew enthusiastic participation, with shikaras adorned with tricolors gliding across Dal Lake, symbolizing India’s resolve against cross-border terrorism. This event follows similar Tiranga rallies organized by the BJP in Srinagar and Anantnag earlier in May to mark the operation’s success.
The rally comes amid heightened regional tensions, with Srinagar’s security measures tightened following recent cross-border incidents. The event not only celebrated the military triumph but also aimed to boost public morale in the Kashmir Valley, reinforcing the government’s commitment to national security.
