Baramulla, December 12,2025 : Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, on Friday reviewed the progress of key financial inclusion schemes in the district, including the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PM-JJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana . The meeting aimed at evaluating current enrolment levels, identifying bottlenecks, and accelerating the saturation of beneficiary-oriented schemes.
During the review meeting, the DC directed concerned officers, bankers, and field functionaries to intensify awareness campaigns and ensure maximum coverage under PM-JJBY and PM-SBY—both of which provide affordable life and accident insurance to economically weaker sections.
Emphasising the Government of India’s push toward inclusive growth, DC Sherpa instructed all departments to gear up for the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PM-SYM)—a flagship pension scheme for unorganised workers. He called for coordinated efforts at the district and block levels to register eligible beneficiaries without delay.
The DC further highlighted the importance of financial security for vulnerable groups and urged banks to simplify procedures to facilitate easy enrolment. He also directed field officers to ensure door-to-door outreach, particularly in remote and rural pockets of Baramulla district.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the district administration’s commitment to achieving 100% saturation of social security schemes, strengthening the financial safety net for citizens, and promoting inclusive development.
