Banihal, April 23,2026- In an inspiring example of innovation and perseverance, Gul Zubair Ahmad Sohil from Chamalwas in Banihal has successfully turned barren land into a thriving model scientific farm under his venture Chenab Valley Farming.
Starting his journey in 2021 with support from government departments, Sohil developed nearly 35–40 kanals of unproductive land into fertile, income-generating farmland. By adopting modern agricultural techniques, he diversified into fruit cultivation, honey production, and poultry farming, creating a sustainable and profitable ecosystem.
Today, his venture generates an annual income of around ₹8 lakh, showcasing the potential of scientific farming practices in hilly and previously unproductive terrains. His farm has also emerged as a learning hub, attracting aspiring farmers and agriculture enthusiasts from across Jammu and Kashmir.
