Banihal, June 26,2026-Preparations for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 have entered the final phase, with trucks carrying supplies for langars (community kitchens) arriving in Banihal ahead of the annual pilgrimage, scheduled to commence on July 3.
Devotees, voluntary organisations, and service groups from different parts of the country have begun setting up langars along the pilgrimage route to provide free meals, drinking water, tea, and other essential refreshments to thousands of pilgrims undertaking the sacred yatra.
Banihal, a key transit point on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, has witnessed increased movement of vehicles transporting food grains, cooking equipment, tents, and other logistical supplies required for the smooth functioning of the community kitchens.
The langars, organised by various religious and charitable organisations, play a vital role during the pilgrimage by offering round-the-clock food and basic facilities to devotees travelling towards the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine. The tradition of selfless service, or seva, remains one of the defining features of the annual yatra.
Authorities have intensified preparations across the route to ensure seamless arrangements for pilgrims. Security measures, traffic management, sanitation, healthcare services, and accommodation facilities are being strengthened in coordination with multiple departments to facilitate a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage.
With only a few days remaining before the commencement of the yatra, the arrival of langar supplies marks an important milestone in the ongoing preparations. Service organisations are working round the clock to complete the installation of kitchens and other support facilities before the first batch of pilgrims begins its journey.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 is expected to witness thousands of devotees from across India, with the administration making extensive arrangements to ensure their safety, comfort, and convenience throughout the pilgrimage.
