Bandipora, April 13, 2025: The District Administration Bandipora conducted a training programme on the General Crop Estimation Survey (GCES) for revenue officials on Saturday, April 12, at the Mini Secretariat, Bandipora. The initiative aimed to strengthen the agricultural data collection mechanism by equipping officials with the skills needed for accurate crop yield estimation.
The session focused on imparting a comprehensive understanding of GCES methodology, including sampling techniques, plot selection, harvesting procedures, and weighing protocols. Officials were also trained in using a specialised mobile application designed to streamline crop cutting experiments and ensure data accuracy. The training was led by a Naib Tehsildar, who delivered an in-depth presentation on field-level protocols, while the Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bandipora oversaw the event.
Speaking at the programme, the ACR emphasized the critical role of GCES in generating reliable crop yield data, which supports agricultural planning and policy-making. “Accurate data collection is vital for informed decision-making and boosting agricultural productivity in the region,” the ACR noted. The training is part of a broader effort to enhance statistical accuracy and align with national standards for crop estimation.
The programme saw active participation from revenue officials across the district, who expressed confidence in applying the learned techniques to improve field operations. Bandipora’s initiative reflects its commitment to advancing agricultural development and supporting farmers through data-driven insights.
