The much-anticipated Badminton Championship kicked off in Srinagar today, drawing top players from across the region. The tournament, organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Badminton Association in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, aims to promote competitive sports and encourage young talent in the Valley.
The opening ceremony saw the participation of sports officials, coaches, and local dignitaries, who lauded the initiative for providing a platform to budding shuttlers. Matches began immediately after, with athletes competing in singles and doubles categories across various age groups.
Organizers highlighted that the championship will continue over the next three days at the Srinagar Indoor Sports Complex, with the final scheduled for Sunday. The event also emphasizes fair play, discipline, and the spirit of sportsmanship, creating opportunities for young athletes to showcase their skills on a larger stage.
