This Sewage Treatment Plant is Anantnag’s first plant that covers the first zone which has eleven valves. The domestic sewage that comes is filtered through the pumps. It is lifted up by the pump station for primary treatment. The initial screening is done here. The garbage in the sewage like paper, cardboard, etc are separated. The sewage treatment plant at Zone 1 was started but had got stuck due to some reasons. Officials are grateful to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha when he first visited Anantnag, the concerned official had a 45 minute discussion and the Lt. Governor had said,’I believe in work, I do not believe in rhetoric.’ Today, thanks to the Lt. Governor, the sewage treatment plant, septic treatment plant and network plants are all functional. Development is happening on the ground level. We are getting to see those developments which we had not thought about. Cleanliness is half of man’s dignity. So the attention given to sanitation and sewerage by the Lt. Governor was to the purpose and nothing can be better than that.
