Army & Civic Agencies Together Showcase Kashmir’s Beauty at ‘Gulmarg Festival’, Boosting Tourism

The Army in collaboration with civic agencies organised the ‘Gulmarg Festival’ 2023. Gulmarg has the world’s highest cable car. This is one reason for increasing tourism, locals say. The mega event organised by the Army comprised a multitude of activities. There were cultural events put by local artistes which made people aware of the tourism potential of Kashmir and Gulmarg in particular. Locals were happy that through these festivals, tourism will be highlighted. Five to seven years back there were not so many tourists, now there are so many tourists that visitors do not find a place in Gulmarg to stay. A lot of guesthouses are being constructed 12-13km below Gulmarg in Tangmarg for the tourists to stay. There is so much of tourist flow nowadays that neither we nor our elders saw in their lifetime, said a local in Gulmarg, Jmmu & Kashmir.
