Bhaderwah, October 7, 2025: In a swift and heroic operation, the Indian Army’s 4 Rashtriya Rifles rescued 25 Bakerwals, including women and children, along with 420 livestock stranded in an unseasonal snowstorm at Padri Gali, Satlad, Biddi Gali, and Ganja-Goth in Jammu and Kashmir. The nomadic Bakerwal community was migrating from Kishtwar to Kathua, Jammu, and Samba when sudden heavy snowfall trapped them in the high-altitude regions.Troops stationed at Khanni Top post, located at an elevation of 10,000 feet, responded promptly to the crisis. Braving harsh weather conditions, the Army evacuated the stranded nomads to safety, providing critical first aid and essential supplies to ensure their well-being.
