Srinagar, August 3, 2026- The Jammu and Kashmir administration has intensified its campaign against drug abuse under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, with authorities reaffirming their commitment to making the Union Territory a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir through stronger enforcement, public awareness, and community participation.
Officials said the anti-drug drive has gained renewed momentum with coordinated efforts involving law enforcement agencies, civil administration, educational institutions, health departments, and civil society organizations. The campaign focuses on curbing drug trafficking, creating awareness among youth, and encouraging citizens to actively participate in the fight against the growing menace of substance abuse.
The administration has adopted a multi-pronged strategy that combines strict action against drug peddlers with preventive measures aimed at protecting vulnerable sections of society, particularly young people. Security agencies have intensified operations against narcotics networks, while awareness programmes are being conducted across schools, colleges, and communities to educate people about the harmful effects of drug addiction.
Officials emphasized that public participation remains a key pillar of the anti-drug initiative. Citizens have been urged to report drug-related activities and support efforts to create a safe and healthy environment for future generations.
The administration stated that the campaign is not only focused on law enforcement but also on rehabilitation and awareness, ensuring that individuals affected by substance abuse receive the necessary support and assistance to reintegrate into society.
