Jammu, January 26,2026- The Anji Khad Bridge, India’s first-ever cable-stayed railway bridge, was illuminated in the colours of the Indian Tricolour on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, creating a powerful visual symbol of national pride, unity, and engineering achievement.
Located in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Anji Khad Bridge is a key component of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link project, one of the most ambitious railway infrastructure projects undertaken in the country. The bridge plays a crucial role in strengthening rail connectivity between Kashmir and the rest of India, overcoming challenging terrain and extreme geological conditions.
As the tricolor lights reflected across the towering pylons and cable network, the bridge stood as a testament to India’s growing expertise in advanced railway and bridge engineering. Designed to withstand seismic activity, high wind speeds, and harsh weather, the structure represents a significant leap in modern infrastructure development in the Himalayan region.
Railway officials highlighted that the Anji Khad Bridge will greatly enhance the operational efficiency and safety of train services on the USBRL route. Once fully operational, it will support all-weather rail connectivity, ensuring uninterrupted passenger movement and smoother transportation of goods throughout the year.
The Republic Day illumination also underscored the broader vision behind the USBRL project—boosting tourism, trade, and socio-economic development in Jammu and Kashmir while fostering stronger national integration. Improved connectivity is expected to open new opportunities for employment, business growth, and cultural exchange in the region.
The tricolour-lit Anji Khad Bridge is more than a feat of engineering; it is a symbol of a confident, modern India—where infrastructure, innovation, and national unity move forward together. The moment perfectly captured the spirit of “Naya Kashmir, Badalta Kashmir” on a day that celebrates the strength of the Indian Republic.
