Srinagar, April 8, 2025-Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar today to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting, which began around 11 AM IST, brought together top officials to assess ongoing counter-terrorism efforts and ensure stability in the Union Territory.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah were in attendance, alongside senior officials including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and chiefs of the J&K Police, Border Security Force , Central Reserve Police Force , and other intelligence agencies. The discussions focused on strengthening the security grid, addressing recent threats, and enhancing coordination among agencies.
Amit Shah’s visit, part of a three-day tour, follows his meeting with the family of martyred J&K Police Deputy Superintendent Humayun Bhat on April 7. Sources indicate the Home Minister emphasised the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism, a stance he has reiterated in previous reviews. The meeting also touched on developmental projects, with officials briefing Shah on progress in the region.
After concluding the security review, Amit Shah is scheduled to return to Delhi this afternoon. His visit underscores the central government’s continued focus on maintaining peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir amidst evolving challenges.
