JAMMU, April 10, 2025 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reiterated India’s firm stance that Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, emphasising that the country’s legal and historical case is robust. Amit Shah urged Pakistan to focus on resolving its domestic challenges rather than interfering in India’s affairs.
“PoJK belongs to India, and our legal case is also strong,” Shah said, recalling the unanimous resolution passed by the Indian Parliament in 1994, which reaffirmed PoJK as part of India. He underscored that India’s position is rooted in historical documents and evidence, making it a matter of belief, not just a claim.
Addressing concerns about unrest in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, Shah remarked that Pakistan has struggled to manage the situation there and in other regions plagued by militancy. “Pakistan should find a solution to its problems,” he stated, distancing India from any involvement in Balochistan’s separatist movements. Shah clarified, “Certain provinces of Pakistan are unhappy with their government, but we cannot repair it.”
On the issue of cross-border terrorism, Shah issued a stern warning, stating that India will not tolerate attempts to destabilize Jammu and Kashmir. He pointed to recent terror attacks, including one in Kathua, as evidence of Pakistan-backed infiltration. “Infiltration is backed by Pakistan, not someone else like Russia, and this has been happening for years,” he said, adding that Indian soldiers remain vigilant and ready to counter such threats.
Amit Shah also emphasised the central government’s commitment to working with Jammu and Kashmir’s elected leadership to ensure security and development in the region. “We will not compromise, nor will we allow anyone else to do so,” he asserted, signaling a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.
Commenting on regional dynamics, Shah briefly addressed Nepal, where recent rallies have called for declaring the country a Hindu Rashtra. He noted, “Nepal is a democracy, and people have the right to express their ideas.”
The Home Minister’s statements come amid heightened tensions, with India consistently calling out Pakistan’s role in fostering terrorism while advocating for peace and stability in the region. Shah’s remarks reinforce India’s unwavering position on PoJK and its focus on countering external threats while promoting internal governance and development.
