Jammu, April 08, 2025 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha met with the families of 11 martyrs who lost their lives in terrorist attacks across the Union Territory. The emotional meeting took place on Monday evening at Raj Bhawan in Jammu, where the leaders paid their respects to the sacrifices made by security personnel and civilians killed in acts of terror. During the event, Shah and Sinha also presented appointment letters to several family members of the martyrs, offering government jobs on compassionate grounds as a gesture of support.
The visit comes amid a renewed focus on combating terrorism in J&K, with the central government emphasizing its commitment to ensuring peace and security in the region. Shah, who arrived in Jammu on Sunday as part of a three-day tour, reiterated the Modi administration’s resolve to eradicate terrorism and provide unwavering support to the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. “The nation stands with the families of our martyrs. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten,” Shah said during the meeting.
LG Manoj Sinha echoed these sentiments, emphasising the administration’s efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem in J&K. “We are working tirelessly to honour our martyrs by ensuring justice and security for all,” Sinha stated. The martyrs included personnel from the J&K Police and civilians targeted in recent terrorist attacks, reflecting the ongoing challenges in the region despite a decline in terror incidents since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
The appointment letters handed out during the meeting are part of a broader initiative to provide financial stability and dignity to the families of martyrs. Among the recipients were relatives of police personnel killed in encounters with terrorists, as well as civilians who fell victim to targeted attacks. The gesture has been widely appreciated as a step toward acknowledging the sacrifices made by individuals and their families in the fight against terrorism.
Amit Shah’s visit to J&K also includes a security review meeting scheduled for later today in Srinagar, where he will assess the current situation alongside senior officials from the J&K Police, Army, and central paramilitary forces. The Home Minister is expected to discuss strategies to further strengthen counter-terrorism measures and ensure the safety of residents in the Union Territory.
