Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra: ‘Rahi Hop’ free bus service to offer pilgrims a glimpse of Dogra culture and heritage

Jammu, July 7, 2026-Pilgrims undertaking the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will now have an opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of the Jammu region through the newly introduced ‘Rahi Hop’ free bus service, an initiative aimed at combining pilgrimage with cultural tourism.

The service has been launched to provide yatris with convenient transportation while showcasing the vibrant Dogra culture, history, and heritage during their stay in Jammu before proceeding to the holy cave shrine.

The specially designed buses will take pilgrims to some of Jammu’s prominent heritage sites, allowing them to explore the region’s historical landmarks, traditional architecture, local art, cuisine, and cultural legacy. The initiative seeks to enrich the overall pilgrimage experience by introducing visitors to the unique identity of the Dogra region.

Officials said the free bus service is intended to promote cultural awareness while encouraging pilgrims to spend more time exploring Jammu’s tourism offerings. The initiative is also expected to benefit local businesses, artisans, and the hospitality sector by increasing tourist footfall.

The ‘Rahi Hop’ service complements the extensive arrangements made for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, which include enhanced security, improved transportation, medical facilities, accommodation, sanitation, and emergency services to ensure a safe and comfortable pilgrimage.

Every year, the Amarnath Yatra attracts lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad, while also providing a significant boost to Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism and local economy. The introduction of the ‘Rahi Hop’ buses reflects efforts to promote not only religious tourism but also the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Union Territory.
