Kashmir Ahead

Amarnath yatra pilgrims set out with prayers and protection

Jammu, July 25, 2025 – A fresh batch of Amarnath pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu early Thursday morning, heading towards the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine nestled in the Himalayas of south Kashmir. The group of over 4,200 yatris (pilgrims) was escorted by security personnel as part of the well-coordinated convoy system under the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB).

This year’s Amarnath Yatra continues to draw thousands of devotees from across India, all seeking blessings from Lord Shiva in his naturally formed ice-lingam form inside the holy cave.

“All arrangements including transportation, medical aid, and food have been made to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage,” said an official from the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

Security and Safety Measures

Given the strategic and religious significance of the Amarnath Yatra, multi-layered security arrangements are in place, including:

  • CRPF and local police escorts
  • RFID-based tracking of pilgrims
  • Medical checkpoints at every stage
  • Weather alert systems and disaster response units

Authorities have also deployed drones and surveillance teams along the twin routes—Pahalgam and Baltal—to ensure safety and real-time monitoring.

Devotion Meets Discipline

Pilgrims expressed spiritual joy and gratitude for being able to undertake the journey. Many hailed from states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, reflecting the pan-India devotion toward the Amarnath Yatra.

“It’s not just a journey; it’s a blessing. We are thankful for the arrangements,” said Rekha Sharma, a pilgrim from Delhi.
