Pahalgam, June 23,2026- Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Monday reviewed the security arrangements at the Nunwan Base Camp in Pahalgam ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, taking stock of the preparedness measures put in place to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims.
During the visit, the DGP inspected various security installations and facilities established at the base camp and interacted with senior police officers and personnel deployed for yatra duties. He was briefed on the overall security framework, deployment plans, surveillance mechanisms, traffic management, emergency response systems, and coordination among different security agencies.
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining a robust security grid, DGP Prabhat directed officers to remain vigilant and ensure seamless coordination among all stakeholders involved in the pilgrimage. He stressed the need for effective crowd management, timely intelligence sharing, and quick response capabilities to address any contingency.
The DGP also reviewed arrangements related to access control, CCTV surveillance, anti-sabotage measures, and emergency evacuation protocols. He instructed officials to ensure that all security procedures are implemented meticulously to facilitate a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage experience for devotees.
Interacting with security personnel, DGP Prabhat appreciated their dedication and commitment towards ensuring the smooth conduct of the yatra. He urged them to maintain high levels of alertness and professionalism throughout the pilgrimage period.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is one of the most significant annual pilgrimages in the country, attracting thousands of devotees from across India and abroad. With the commencement of the yatra approaching, security forces and civil administration have intensified preparations across both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
The review at Nunwan Base Camp forms part of a series of inspections and preparedness assessments being conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other agencies to ensure a secure and well-organized Amarnath Yatra 2026.
