Jammu, September 6, 2025: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) 2nd Battalion successfully conducted a six-day Basic Disaster Management Course at its headquarters in Jammu, specifically designed for personnel from the 23rd Wing Air Force Station, Jammu.
A total of 32 Air warriors participated in the training, which commenced on September 1 and concluded successfully on September 6, 2025. The course combined theoretical sessions and hands-on practical exercises, focusing on life-saving techniques, disaster preparedness, and emergency response protocols.
The training emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation, highlighting the strong collaboration between the Indian Air Force and SDRF to enhance community resilience during disasters. Senior officers from both forces, including Zahid Manhas, Commandant SDRF 2nd Battalion, Group Capt. J S Sudan, and Group Capt. Ambresh Pandit, attended the inaugural and valedictory ceremonies.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Zahid Manhas stressed the growing need for preparedness amid increasingly complex disasters. “The knowledge and skills gained during this course will enable our Air warriors to act decisively and efficiently in critical situations,” he said.
Dy. SP (Trainings) Dinesh Gupta, the course coordinator, presented the vote of thanks. This initiative not only imparted critical disaster response skills but also strengthened the partnership between SDRF and the Indian Air Force, ensuring higher operational readiness and coordinated disaster response in Jammu and Kashmir.
