Kulgam, June 15,2026- In a significant step towards ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims undertaking the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra, Kulgam Police, in coordination with various security agencies, conducted a comprehensive mock drill along National Highway-44 (NH-44) on Monday.
The exercise was aimed at assessing the preparedness of security forces, strengthening inter-agency coordination, and rehearsing response mechanisms to effectively tackle any emergency situation that may arise during the annual pilgrimage.
Senior police officers, personnel from security agencies, emergency response teams, and other stakeholders participated in the drill. The mock exercise simulated multiple emergency scenarios, including security threats, medical emergencies, traffic management challenges, and evacuation procedures.
Officials stated that the drill was designed to evaluate the efficiency of communication channels, operational readiness, and the ability of various agencies to work in a coordinated manner during crisis situations. The exercise also focused on minimizing response time and ensuring the safety of pilgrims and commuters along the vital highway.
Kulgam Police reiterated their commitment to providing a secure environment for devotees undertaking the Shri Amarnath Yatra and emphasized that such preparedness exercises play a crucial role in strengthening security arrangements ahead of the pilgrimage.
