Kupwara, October 25, 2025: In a remarkable example of women-led entrepreneurship, Aamina Rashid from Handwara is transforming rural livelihoods through her Dairy Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), which has united over 180 women across the region.
Her initiative, rooted in the heart of Kupwara district, collects more than 500 liters of milk daily, creating a sustainable source of income for local women and promoting the growth of the dairy sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
Aamina’s FPO not only supports women’s financial independence but also encourages cooperative farming and value addition, helping women gain market access and fair prices for their produce. Her leadership has made the Handwara Dairy FPO a symbol of empowerment, resilience, and community-driven development in north Kashmir.
Through training programs, quality checks, and organised supply chains, the FPO is ensuring that the region’s dairy products reach wider markets while maintaining purity and freshness.
Aamina Rashid’s success story stands as a beacon of women empowerment, proving that collective effort, innovation, and determination can drive sustainable rural growth and uplift entire communities.
